Sisyphean

The 2018 Run for the Fallen was a 4 month, 6,000 mile run from Fort Irwin, CA to Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC. The run honored every fallen service member from the past 18 years by calling out the names of soldiers after every mile. This in depth, immersive documentary will tell the story of this run and explore complex, emotional themes such as life, death, country, and war by hearing from so many that took part in this run.

In a world marked by perpetual conflict and division, Sisyphean tenderly opens the raw heart of human suffering to unveil a grief deemed incurable. Following George Lutz’s mission to bring healing to 20,000 grieving families across the United States, filmmakers Teddy Leinbach and Keller Berry chronicle the cross-country 6,000 mile military memorial tribute run, with an apolitical yet intimate lens. Candid conversations with those that felt compelled to join the mission explore the emotional power of a passion which heals, and interviews with Gold Star Families shed light on the lives of those devastated by the unnatural loss of another’s. In bringing an empathetic perspective to the universal emotions associated with death, the weight that comes with sacrificing a loved one to military service is recognized and honored.

Currently, Sisyphean is in a rough-cut early version which will be screened throughout the month of December and January to select audiences while it continues to be polished and made the best it can possibly be. To get the film to a professional standard, it will also require outside collaboration and that is what this crowdfunding is for.
